But PU machinery is more than just buying a machine &#8211; it\u2019s about putting together a stable, well matched system. That\u2019s what you need for stable output, consistent quality, and long term cost control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. PU Injection Pouring Machine<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the crosshairs of any safety shoe production line you will find the PU injection (or pouring, if you prefer) machine. Especially for double density soles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Look for:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stable metering accuracy (buffers density, and bonding)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stable mixing (avoid bubbles, weak spots)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stable temperature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For safety shoes you need a double density PU system most of the time, with part of the sole softer and part harder (like in a \u2018tender\u2019 midsole with a hard outsole). You need a machine with an accurate mixing head, and stable flow of material, or the layers won\u2019t bond!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Rotary Table (Carousel) System<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are shooting for any respectable production capacity, a rotary PU shoe machine is a must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Truly continuous production (no stop and start)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More pairs produced per day per operator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Better consistency between pairs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A well tuned rotaty system will also work with different moulds1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Number of Stations: How Many Do You Need?<\/strong><br>The right PU shoe production machine for you isn\u2019t just about the machine itself \u2014 the layout, and specifically the number of workstations, matters too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It depends a lot on how much output you want, of course, but generally:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2-3 stations = less capacity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4+ stations = more idle time if not arranged correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Material Feeding &amp; Metering System (Where Most of the Problems Are)<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Putting aside how well the injection system works, many issues come from unstable feeding and delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A great PU machine must also have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an automatic material feeding system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>other temperature controlled tanks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>accurate metering parts and pumps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re using something like BASF or similar, compatibility and calibration are important, though you will usually get this from the suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poor feeding systems lead to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>inconsistent density<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>surface blemishes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>excess material and wear on the machine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Moulds and Other Tooling<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, the best of machines won\u2019t deliver great results with poor or default moulds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For safety shoes, for instance, moulds must be good at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>dual density injection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>steel toe cap integration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>complex tread patterns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And good moulds mean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>demoulding made easy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>consistent product quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lower cycle times overall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Automation Level: What\u2019s Right for You?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all factories need 100% automation from day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, we find it\u2019s enough to go with standard, semi-automatic \/ low level automation layout if required. Full automation comes later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some features are nice however you do it; these include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>auto-locks and auto-clamps for fast processing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dosing and metering, especially if done with very good precision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>basic fault detection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>less heavy reliance on stalking for processing to go well<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This makes gradual scaling easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>6. Post-Sale Support (Wharfs Often More Important Than You Realize)<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many buyers just obsess over the specific machines you\u2019ll end with &#8211; things like pricing, specs, parts, etc. And it being different manufacturers. It\u2019s a mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In PU processing, you will need to get beyond the following eventually:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>remote help<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mixing head assistance and repairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>parameter fine tuning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>basic training experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Without them, even a great machine often becomes hard to use easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7. A Sample Line<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, here\u2019s a random sample PU production shoe footage you will probably be choosing from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PU injection of pouring PU machine, (we\u2019ve broadly spoken of it often)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rotary table system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a material shelving \/ feeding system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>moulds of course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a separate cooling (or finishing) area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re in it long term, it is usually better to go for a single PU plant purchase \u201cturnkey PU project\u201d than sorely buy these entire machines separately. You will find the plant footprint more soft and save on labour and material waste!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Summing It All Up<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no \u201cperfect\u201d PU production safety shoe machine system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The right machine configuration often comes down to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>plant size<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>order sizes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>making safety shoes as comparatively low budget items or high margin items<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what you set aside for a budget<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>anticipate your growth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But one great thing is often similar in successful factories in the business.
